Agoo’s Perfect Mix

May 11th, 2009

It’s no secret that Agoo makes adorable activewear for kids. Moms always tell us “I have the most stylish kid in school!” It’s evident in our designs and we work hard to come up with new and innovative designs each season. But what we’re really proud of, and what truly separates Agoo from all the other kids clothing companies, is our performance features.

We think function is equally (if not more) important than fashion when it comes to our clothes. They’re active, they’re outdoors and they love to get dirty. In order to make sure our kids are comfortable and protected from the elements, we use only the best performance fabrics in our designs.

Performance Features

Our performance features include Stain Resistance, so laundry is a breeze!  Our Wick Away fibers pull moisture away from the skin. Our UPF + 50 rating protects your child’s sensitive skin is protect from harmful UV rays and finally 4-Way Stretch ensures they  jump, bend and twist in full comfort.

On top of all that, we also have unique comfort features. Our Flatlock Stitching makes sure seams are strong and comfortable against the skin. You’ll never have to cut another itchy tag with our Tag Free Labels. Plus, a little extra length in our sleeves and body ensure your kids can enjoy their activewear a little longer.

Comfort Features

To read about all our performance & comfort features check out our handy little tool which lets you easily read about the features that interest you most.

Agoo’s Book Pick: 7 Habits of Happy Kids

May 4th, 2009

7-habits-of-happy-kidsIf you’re familiar with self-help books, then you may have already read the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Dr. Stephen Covey. Having sold over 15 million copies worldwide, the book has become a must have for college graduates, professionals, parents and anyone trying to lead a better life.

The 7 principles are so powerful that school teachers were trying to adapt them to their educational curriculums. Dr. Covey’s son, Sean Covey quickly realized the benefits of the 7 Habits for kids and adapted them in the new children’s book 7 Habits of Happy Kids

This illustrated book shares the habits through seven stories featuring the Seven Oaks Friends. The stories show the Seven Oaks Community practicing the 7 Habits while having fun, being creative and learning.

Each chapter of the book also has a great section called the “Parent’s Corner” which helps parents draw out the habits and apply them to the child’s life. Some simple questions and activities really help kids understand the stories and also help the book come alive.

Below is a short clip from the CBS Early Show featuring Sean Covey speaking about 7 Habits of Happy Kids.

To pick up your own copy, visit your local bookstore or Amazon.com

Must See TV: Brain Gains

April 24th, 2009

Teacher Allison Cameron & student at City Park Collegiate

Teacher Allison Cameron & student at City Park Collegiate

I recently watched a really great feature on CBC’s The National discussing the impact of fitness on the brain’s ability to learn. In an effort to help her students, Allison Cameron, a Saskatoon school teacher encouraged her Grade 8 students to get active in class. Balancing education with exercise, in the form of treadmills during class, she noticed a huge improvement in her students. She tracked the results in behaviour and academics and the results were amazing!

Allison Cameron’s class is a part of a 2008 pilot program in both Canada and the U.S. which tested the link between brain function and physical activity.

Click here to watch the 15 minute special feature.  It’s really an amazing story and a lesson for all of us as parents.

As always, we love to hear your thoughts. Contact us in any way you like!
